The idea that thoughts have the power to influence our physical reality and well-being, and that of others is a little known theme in most scientific, philosophical and spiritual traditions. There is far more than a degree of truth to this concept, and it's essential to understand it within a broader context.
The mind does have a significant impact on the body. Negative thoughts and stress can lead to physical health problems, such as hypertension or weakened immune function. Conversely, positive thoughts and emotions can have a beneficial impact on overall well-being.
Negative thoughts affect our emotions and mental state. Prolonged negative thinking patterns can contribute to conditions like depression and anxiety and illness and dis-ease. On the flip side, positive loving, kind and compassionate thinking can lead to improved mental health ,and physical well-being.
It is of the utmost importance therefore that we know this and see the power of our thoughts. Our thoughts can be a force for harm or healing, for love or its polar opposite. To learn to take responsibility for our thoughts as well as our actions arising from those thoughts.
So….the bottom line is that thoughts play a major role in directly shaping one's reality on the physical plane and the energy of those thoughts affects our own internal world and those around us, near and far.
In other words the thoughts that I carry in the presence of another can be sensed, felt by that other sentient being from the energy they are generating, and depending again on the quality of those thoughts experienced as creative force for love or its opposite……darkness.
There are many skillful techniques and practices that can be used to quiet the mind and give rise to the Love found within the heart. Energy or the internalized experience of life events unprocessed are a major driving factor for thought patterns. The importance therefore for a regular meditation practice, types of energy-work, body-work, breath-work cannot be overstated in the quieting of the minds chatter, of its thoughts. Nigel Lott
