As painful as it might be, at times….
Do not be attached to outcomes indeed, the outcomes of anything, for you have no ultimate control. This does not mean we cannot have an intention for a particular outcome with all our hearts, its just that the final outcome of that intention is not in our hands.
Of course we have preferences about how things are supposed to look in order for us to be happy or sad, of course we do. Our attachment to a particular outcome of any stated intention leads to suffering depending on the outcome for which we have no control, because we have those preferences .
The Bhagavid Gita reminds us that the Great Way is not difficult for those who have no preferences, and goes on to say that make the slightest distinction however and heaven and earth are set infinitely apart, if we do have preferences about how things turn out as to our intentions for ourselves and life.
So with all your heart have your intentions by all means, but know that your personal intentions will manifest only if that intention is seen to align, to be in the way of things…….. with the will of the cosmos, and the universal destiny. Nigel Lott teaandzen.org
Absolutely love this reminder! Letting go of attachment to outcomes can be such a liberating experience. It's about setting intentions with all our hearts, yet understanding that the final outcome is beyond our control. Embracing this mindset opens up a space for true peace and joy, regardless of how things unfold. Thank you for the beautiful eloquent insights, Nigel Lott!
